Reviews
We were passing through Slough yesterday evening and one of our friends who lives in the local area highly recommended we try out Zaiitoon (as we hungry).
The restaurant is a good size and has a bright ambience to it. The colours are inviting and there’s plenty of seating, which is good for friends and family.
We ordered the following dishes:
- chapali kebab
- charsi lamb karahi gosht
- chicken jalfrezi
- afghani naan
- kabuli pilua with lamb shank
- mango lassi
The food was excellent. The charsi lamb karahi gosht was marinated to perfection. It is definitely one of the best karahi’s I’ve had in a long-time. The flavour, heat and overall tenderness of the meat was exceptional.
The chicken jalfrezi was very good too and the chicken itself was very tender and, similar to the charsi gosht, very flavourful and tasty!
Chapali kebabs were very good too and tasted fresh.
The kabuli pilau with lamb shank was nice but could’ve been better. The rice wasn’t the traditional rice used and had more of a Pakistani pilau texture to it.
Price to quality ratio of all of the food was very good.
Customer service was excellent and all of our requirements were met.
The only downside I have is that they asked for cash, which isn’t always possible and I’d expect most restaurants to accept card payments nowadays.
Overall, highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be visiting again the next time I’m in the local area!
I ordered chicken karahi, chicken kebabs and kabuli rice. Meat in karahi was not fresh, puraani botiya taza masalay me garnish kr k serve ki thi, kebabs were under cooked and rice were awful 😞, completely taste less.
Food prices are unjustifiably higher compared to its quality.
Great food! Very traditional authentic Afghan type food. We tried some curries, kabali rice chapali kebabs ( you get 3 huge kebabs and giant naan per portion and the highlight the huge family platter.
Everything was full of flavour with lovely balance of herbs and spices.
Very attentive service from all the staff as we had a table of 16.
The restaurant does tend to be popular so book ahead or you will have to wait. It’s a casual spot full of families etc nothing pretentious but the food is spot on full of flavour with quality tender meat and flavours.
Horrible food ordered qaubli pallow mantoo and jug of dough and the hummus the food was horrible zero in presentation, zero in taste….. found hair in rice pallow shank was hard very bad nothing was good salad was used left dried out seemed like old below are the photos I would. Not visit again I had expected high but it was nothing as such rice was tasteless nothing good to rate the salad is so dried as it was old hummus was horrible too prices were high too according to the portions and taste please can everyone post honest reviews and not to mislead others the shank pallow had hair inside which put me off from the food I felt sick
I called many times but no answer
It was awesome service at Zaitoon and our attendant Iffat helped us throughout .She helped us on details of dishes , and was very professional and gentle in behaviour. We enjoyed the popular Qabuli pulao, Afghani Nan and Charasi chicken . It was really awesome ..
Beautiful ambience perfect food amazing service especially the hospitality from the host Afaq he is very attentive and really looks after the guests highly recommended for good food and family atmosphere. 5*
Lovely food, kaabli pilau and mix grill was delicious and cooked well. Friendly staff and made sure we were looked after. Will definitely be back.
A good option to try Kazakh / Uzbekh / Afghan mildly spiced food. Lively vibe and generous portion size.
